I had planned on doing this painting for a show in Brooklyn, but through a series of "allergic events" (what else is new) I switched from oils to acrylics midway. I wound up putting in two New York cityscapes, but I still liked all the prep work I did for the original idea. The model is a friend from work, Jackie, who was amazingly nice to help out. I'll post the cricket soon, 'cause he turned out cool.

I wanted to post another piece that I did last year while painting with Dice Tsutsumi. Those Saturday morning painting sessions were the best, even if I did complain that it was too friggin' early. As everyone is probably aware by now, he is heading off to California, and needless to say, I will miss him greatly. I can't say enough good things about the guy. Just check out his website to see his amazing artwork (see my friends links). He is one of my best friends, and a visionary artist. I'll miss him, and so will the New York Animation community.

I thought I'd throw up some sketchbook pages to keep motivated. I do these on the subway every time I commute. Its great practice, although alot of people won't look directly at you while you draw them. (It is New York after all...)

I consider myself very fortunate to be included in the Sketchtravel project. I am a huge fan of all of the artists, and I cannot wait to see it after its worldly travels and exploits!
I did this drawing in pencil by laying in an overall grey value, then erasing out the highlights. I then cleaned up the sketch with a mechanical pencil (5 mm).
I'd love to do more in this style...

This was a painting I did one morning with my good friend Dice Tsutsumi. I was painting with a group of Blue Skyers pretty regulary last year and the year before. Lots of fun and a few good paintings...
I learned a great deal painting with the master Diceman.

This is a watercolor I did while traveling in 2006. I visited Madrid and Barcelona in the spring of 2006 between projects at Blue Sky, and had a blast. I caught up with my good friends Mike Knapp and Ellie while I was there, their buddy Julia, and even hung out with the two Barcelona/Blue Sky locals, Ed and Eric while they were home. Too much fun was had.
